‘Under Glass’
Specimen :Under Glass

I’ve always been intrigued by how we draw attention to individual personal artifacts as its often a choice of the person who designates them ( the artifacts) as worthy informing the viewer by this isolating that here is something worthy of your attention.
Items under glass also hold a connotation of science specimens to be preserved. This isn’t the only reason for me showing the seedpods in this way it’s also the reflection of the glass that moves me. The juxtaposition of the hard smokey roughness of the ceramic that has stood the test of time (in a fire) and while new and man-made they look archaic and primitive and in and of themselves they are reminiscent of everything I find aesthetically pleasing. The worn unfinished hardness in contrast to a frail delicate reflective object in this case the glass and the transparency of a medieval image.
Hard and soft ….my aesthetic is everywhere in nature in my art in my home.
‘There I’ve explained away in two words a dizzying and endless nuanced way in which I see the world ‘
